Physical Aspects of Borggaard Beach
Desirable items that are advantageous because they currently exist on the site are:
- Restrooms, with ramp access
- Potable water well
- Leach Field
- Physically challenged access
- Lifeguards & existing procedure for fee collecting
- Reduced wind exposure
- Fences, separating the area from the road
Size of Site
The Borggaard Beach site provides ample space for:
- Splash pad and surrounding deck in a sunny area, accommodating up to 150 children
- Picnic tables and shade structures
- Showers and restrooms
- Parking
Natural Resources
- Water: Potable water will be taken from the existing well and put into a holding tank that we will install, to be distributed to the splash pad and then drained into the leach field. No chemicals will need to be used and no recirculation system is needed
- Soil: Since the site can support small commercial buildings and allow for shallow excavation to trench for the underground water piping, soils should be adequate for installation of the splash pad
Access to Utilities
- Access to an appropriate water source and sanitary sewer reduces cost of installation
- Electricity is available and a solar panel can be placed on top of the bathhouse to provide energy for the entire area
