Why do we need to revitalize Borggaard Beach?

Strengthen our community and local economy by creating affordable & accessible recreational opportunities at Borggaard Beach.

• Borggaard Beach, which could be a beautiful and vibrant community gathering place, is currently underutilized. It is common practice for many Winchester residents to pay substantial fees for summer memberships to water facilities in other towns. In addition to giving our money to other towns for their recreational facilities, visits to their grocery, retail and dining establishments also result in lost revenue for our local businesses.

Winchester and its local business community are losing out on income that could be generated by providing residents a reason to stay, and shop, local.

Benefit ALL within our community by offering an affordable, fully accessible recreational facility.

• The town beach area would provide affordable relief from the summer heat for all Winchester residents regardless of income level, and, importantly, address a gaping hole that currently exists by providing recreational opportunities for those with disabilities.

Winchester currently has no public recreational facility truly accessible to children with limiting physical disabilities, and this is detrimental to their overall health and wellness.
